Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is the prickly solution to skin troubles. Using a pen-like device, tiny needles pierce the skin to stimulate collagen production and encourage cellular turnover. It’s a beauty treatment that gets right under your skin, reverses the signs of aging, and restores your skin’s youthful glow.

Collagen: Your Skin’s Structural Framework

Collagen is a crucial protein that acts as the structural framework of your skin, providing strength and elasticity. It’s responsible for keeping your skin plump, youthful, and firm. Your body produces less collagen as you age, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Microneedling helps stimulate collagen production by creating microscopic injuries in the skin, triggering a healing response that results in the production of new collagen. The result is improved skin texture, tone, and overall radiance.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that involves using a device with tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. The punctures trigger the body’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production, which improves the skin’s texture and firmness. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars, and hyperpigmentation. Microneedling is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure suitable for all skin types. The treatment can be customized to address specific skin concerns and is typically done in several sessions.

Concerns Treated:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scars, including acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation and age spots
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Stretch marks
  • Loss of skin firmness and elasticity
  • Sun damage
  • Dull or lackluster skin
  • Rough or dry skin
  • Uneven skin pigmentation caused by melasma
  • Under-eye bags and dark circles
  • Signs of aging on the neck and chest

Benefits of Microneedling:

  • Stimulates collagen and elastin production
  • Improves skin texture and firmness
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Minimizes the appearance of scars, including acne scars
  • Boosts the absorption of skincare products
  • Can be used on the face, neck, décolleté, and body
  • Safe for all skin types
  • Non-invasive with minimal downtime
  • Can be combined with other treatments, such as PRP and PRF

PRP & PRF with Microneedling

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are regenerative techniques that can enhance the benefits of traditional microneedling. PRP and PRF involve using the patient’s blood to create a concentrated solution of platelets, growth factors, and other healing agents. The platelets and growth factors are your body’s primary healing agents, responsible for cellular regeneration, collagen production, and more. When applied after microneedling, they can enhance the skin’s natural healing properties.

The primary difference between PRP and PRF is how they are prepared. PRP involves separating the platelets from the blood using a centrifuge, resulting in a concentrated solution of platelets and growth factors. PRF is prepared using a slower centrifugation process, resulting in a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors. When combined with microneedling, PRP and PRF can increase collagen production, improve skin texture, and produce faster and more dramatic results.

How Microneedling Works

Microneedling creates tiny punctures on the skin’s surface, which triggers the body’s natural healing process. When the skin is injured, it produces new collagen and elastin, the proteins that give skin strength, structure, and elasticity. The micro-injuries created during microneedling send signals to the skin to produce new collagen and elastin, improving skin texture and firmness. The skin heals and sheds dead skin cells, revealing fresher, brighter, and more youthful skin.

Your Complete Microneedling Experience

Consultation

Before your microneedling treatment, you’ll meet our licensed and experienced medical providers to discuss your skin concerns and goals. Shea will examine your skin, measure the degree of skin laxity, and recommend a customized treatment plan that addresses your needs.

Treatment

On the day of your microneedling session, you’ll be escorted to our private treatment room, where you’ll receive a numbing cream to ensure your comfort. The medical provider will use a microneedling device to create tiny punctures in your skin, followed by applying PRP or PRF (if you choose to add it to your treatment). Our state-of-the-art microneedling devices use sterile, disposable needle cartridges to ensure your safety and comfort.

Recovery

After microneedling, you can expect some redness and mild swelling, which typically resolves within a few hours to a few days. You’ll be given aftercare instructions and recommended skincare products to use during the healing process. You can resume your daily activities immediately, but you must avoid strenuous workouts, exfoliants, harsh soaps, and direct sunlight until your side effects dissipate completely, which may take 2 to 3 days.

Results

Over the next few weeks, you’ll notice a gradual improvement in your skin’s texture, tone, and overall appearance. Your skin will appear plumper, firmer, and more youthful, with reduced fine lines and wrinkles. If you add PRP or PRF to your treatment, the healing process will be even faster, and you’ll see more dramatic results. Depending on your goals, you may need 2 to 3 microneedling sessions spaced a few weeks apart for optimal results.

Maintenance

We recommend regular follow-up appointments to maintain the results of your microneedling treatment. After your initial round of microneedling sessions, you can opt for maintenance treatments every 3 to 6 months. We will work with you to create a customized skincare regimen that complements your microneedling treatments and helps you achieve your skincare goals.
